ABSTRACT
This Special Session aims at attracting contributions exploring the research issues, open challenges, applications, and solutions pertaining to DSS adopting AI and XR.
TOPICS
Topics relevant for this Special Session are:
- DSSs in healthcare, including clinical DSSs:;
- Use of AI and XR for diagnosis and of diseases and disability and prediction of health conditions;
- Use of AI and XR for personalization of training and rehabilitation interventions;
- XR (and AI-powered) applications for the management of health chronic conditions;
- Medical education with “Virtual patients” – AI and XR simulations of patients;
- Sensor fusion decision making (centralized, distributed, hybrid) to detect patient’s critical condition in the context of E-Health/M-Health;
- Advanced visualization for anatomical applications;
- Supporting decision-making in Ambient Assisted Living, Ambient Assisted Working, and Active Ageing with XR & AI-enabled applications:
- Tools and solutions for the design of smart homes;
- Medical sensor fusion and ML- based decision making for elderly/fragile people monitoring at home (IoTH);
- Applications to support ageing workforce and training;
- Smart applications to support older adults’ independency and Activities of Daily Living;
- DSSs and Geographic Information Systems (GISs) for environmental analysis and monitoring;
- Novel ways of interacting with DSSs;
- Combination of AI and XR: Conferring intelligence to virtual and augmented environments.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Atieh Mahroo received her M.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She is also a research fellow at the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing. Her research interest includes Internet of Things, Smart Living Environment and Ambient Intelligence, particularly in the context of smart home and domestic comfort exploiting innovative technologies such as AR/MR/VR, Artificial Intelligence and Semantic Web Technology.
Daniele Spoladore received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Theoretical and Applied sciences Dept. of the Insubria University, Varese, in 2022. He is currently a research fellow at the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Systems and Technologies for Advanced Manufacturing of the Italian National Research Council. His research focuses on AI and knowledge engineering, ontology applied to Ambient Assisted Living, active ageing, and rehabilitation applications.
Sabatina Criscuolo received her M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II in 2021. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Information and Communication Technology for Health at the same university. She is also a research fellow at the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing. Her research activities focus on artificial intelligence techniques in healthcare applications and processing of biomedical signals.
