PRE-CONTEST
Date: June 22, 2026
Hybrid Format
- On-site: Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, Germany
- Online: via Microsoft Teams
What is it?
The Pre-Contest is a hands-on challenge for students and young researchers who want to test and improve their skills in data analysis, machine learning, and model development. At the beginning of the event, participants will receive a dataset that they will use to train and evaluate their own model on their personal device. The goal is to develop the model that best fits the provided data and achieves the best performance according to the evaluation criteria defined by the organizers. The best-performing participant or team will be awarded.
This format gives participants the opportunity to work independently with real data, compare different modelling approaches, and prepare for the official Contest during IEEE MetroXRAINE 2026.
Award
The winner(s) will receive a certificate of excellence from the conference committee. The award ceremony will take place during the main conference event.
Team Participation
- Open to MSc students, PhD students, and young researchers under 36 years old, either individually or in teams (up to 3 members).
