SPECIAL SESSION #41
Medical Image Digital Transformation
ORGANIZED BY
Paolo Gargiulo
Reykjavik University, Iceland
ABSTRACT
In recent years, advancements in medical imaging technology, coupled with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR), have revolutionized the field of healthcare. This special issue aims to explore cutting-edge research and applications in image segmentation, 3D model rendering, VR-based surgical planning, virtual histology, medical image feature extraction, and the utilization of AI in medical imaging data analysis. on practical, project-based learning to foster a deeper understanding and implementation of these innovative techniques in healthcare.
TOPICS
The list of topics of interest includes (but is not limited to):
- Advancements in virtual histopathology techniques for non-invasive tissue characterization;
- Potential applications in early disease detection, treatment monitoring, and pathology education;
- Methods for generating accurate three-dimensional models from medical imaging data. Utilization of rendered models for surgical simulation, training, and patient education. Virtual Reality and 3D Printing for Surgical;
- Extraction of clinically relevant features from medical images using machine learning and deep learning algorithms. Automation of image analysis tasks for improved efficiency and diagnostic accuracy.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Paolo Gargiulo, is a full Professor at Reykjavik University. He studied at TU Wien and finished his PhD in 2009.
