Healthcare systems are facing a fundamental challenge: an ageing population, a growing burden of chronic and complex diseases, and increasing pressure on healthcare resources. In CNS, where the adoption of technology has traditionally been slower than in other therapeutic areas, this creates both an urgent need and a major opportunity for transformation.

This presentation will explore how medical technology, artificial intelligence, wearables and connected care are already beginning to change the CNS patient journey. Through real examples across Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy and other CNS conditions, we will look at how technology can help identify disease earlier, continuously monitor patients outside the hospital, personalise treatment based on real-world data, anticipate critical events before they occur, and increasingly move care and treatment into the patient’s home.

EPISERAS will be presented as one practical example of this transformation, illustrating the potential evolution from detecting an epileptic seizure to anticipating its risk and creating an opportunity for earlier action.

The key message is simple: the future of CNS care is no longer just about developing better treatments. It is about combining medicines, medical technology, data and AI to create a model of care that is more predictive, personalised, continuous and closer to the patient.

It is time to move beyond the PowerPoint and make medical technology work for patients.

César Rodríguez Domínguez is Corporate Head of the MedTech Business Unit at Neuraxpharm, a European specialist in brain health, where he leads global MedTech strategy from development to commercialization. A senior executive, board advisor and educator, he has more than 15 years of international leadership experience across healthcare, pharma, MedTech and digital health, helping organizations turn digital innovation and AI into sustainable business growth.
He has been CEO of Zerintia HealthTech and AxisMed, Chief Digital Operating Officer at Baleària, and Director of Telefónica’s global digital health business for Europe and Latin America. He is co-founder of TalamIA, a training center for AI and digital skills in healthcare and pharma, and advises founders, boards and investors on growth and emerging technologies.
César holds an MBA from ESADE and completed the Advanced Management Program at Kellogg School of Management.
